Enkaustikos Encaustic Paint is a professional-quality, wax-based paint that must be heated before use. Hot Sticks are designed for versatility, featuring a unique square shape that allows artists to explore a wide range of encaustic techniques, including painting, printmaking, rubbings, and mixed media applications. They can be applied directly to a heated surface or melted for broader coverage and color blending.
This set includes translucent colors ideal for creating beautiful glazes and layered effects, especially when mixed with Wax Medium and/or XD Wax Medium.
Colors include Quinacridone Magenta, Italian Golden Ochre, Quinacridone Gold, Prussian Blue, and Phthalo Green (Blue Shade).
    •    Quinacridone Magenta is a single pigment paint that is transparent and has high tinting strength. It’s an intense violet-red perfect for mixing vibrant purples and pinks. To maintain its transparency, mix with other transparent or semi-transparent paints. It extends beautifully with wax medium to create radiant pink glazes. Quinacridone Magenta is an organic pigment, making it extremely lightfast and heat-stable.
    •    Italian Golden Ochre is a semi-transparent single pigment paint, slightly lighter and more transparent than Yellow Ochre. When extended with wax medium or XD Wax Medium, it reveals a warm, luminous golden tone unique to this pigment.
    •    Quinacridone Gold is a transparent, high-tinting single pigment paint with a rich cinnamon-red mass tone and glowing golden honey undertones. It’s perfect for glazing and color mixing when vibrancy is desired. Like other organic pigments, it is extremely lightfast and heat-stable.
    •    Prussian Blue is a high-quality pigment with excellent natural clarity and depth. Use with plenty of wax medium to extend and reveal its luminous undertones.
    •    Phthalo Green (Blue Shade) is a single pigment paint with very high tinting strength. Its dark mass tone appears almost black but becomes highly transparent when extended with wax medium, making it ideal for glazing and creating turquoise shades.
For best results, use with Anodized Aluminum Plate 4×4 (EN16200) and Hog Bristle Brushes (EN70050 and EN70055).
