The pouches are made of biomaterials based on minerals found in the soil and vegetable oils. The material is characterized by excellent biodegradability, high strength and good resistance to heat while retaining adequate plasticity. It fully degrades under conditions such as composting and water contact with certain microorganisms while remaining very stable during normal storage and use. On the other hand, it does not leave micro plastics in the soil during decomposition.
Unlike most biodegradable plastics on the market, the material used is PLA-free. This is a very significant difference because bio-polymers (PLA) are obtained by biological synthesis of corn, potatoes or sugarcane. The consumption of food for the production of such granules is not the only problem. According to scientists and recent studies – polylactide (PLA), although advertised by manufacturers as 100% biodegradable, sometimes takes 45-60 years to fully decompose in backyard compost.
