A super-compact, low-cost USB-C 4-port USB 2.0 hub module for makers, connecting all your USB-C things to your host device in the smallest way possible!
This hub was designed to be both compact (30mm x 32mm x 5mm) and low-cost. To facilitate such a small size, all ports use USB-C connectors. Whilst this hub uses USB-C connectors it does not pass USB3 data – data transfer will be at USB 2.0 speeds. The board has pads for a 24C02 on the underside but it’s not fully wired.
The USB-C IN upstream port has 5.1k resistors on both CC lines and a 1A poly fuse for power input. The four downstream USB-C ports have 56k resistors on both CC lines indicating ‘legacy mode’ for up to 500mA.
The board is powered by a WCH CH334 USB 2.0 IC:
- High-performance MTT mode, providing independent TT for each port
- USB 2.0 downstream ports, backwards compatible with USB 1.1 protocol specification
- Self-powered
There’s also a 3D print case file for those of you with plastic melting machines – grab some UK-made filament here if you’re out of spaghetti.
