The Waveshare PoE M.2 HAT+ has been designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5, integrating Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality alongside an M.2 interface, enabling use of high-speed NVMe SSDs (sizes 2230 and 2242), including support for SSD booting in Gen2 mode (and Gen3 if you enable it).
This board supports the IEEE 802.3af/at network standard and includes a fully isolated switch-mode power supply (SMPS), offering your board 5V 4.5A max. There is also a 12V header for powering external hardware, which can offer 12V 2A Max (the combined maximum output power is 25W if you plan to use the 12V header).
The board also features a built-in PWM fan (connects to Pi 5 fan header) which adjusts speed based on the temperature (ranges can be adjusted in config.txt), helping the included low-profile heatsink to keep your Pi’s temperature in check (which is handy because it’s not compatible with the official RPi Active Cooler).
The board operates in PCIe x1 Gen2 or Gen3 mode and includes a power and activity LED indicator to clearly show operating status.
Raspberry Pi and SSD not included.
