TAILORED TO BE TIMELESS
Heritage isn’t simply revisiting the past; it’s about embodying the soul of an era. And Wharfedale’s Denton 85 Anniversary Edition loudspeakers weave this philosophy into every painstaking design choice and detail, capturing the artistry, the craftsmanship, and the timeless elegance that defined music’s golden age. So that every note becomes a tribute to the excellence of that age, every song a celebration of timelessness over trend.
EVERYTHING IN ITS RIGHT PLACE
Denton 85th Anniversary’s carefully engineered crossover design ensures a seamless handoff between its woven Kevlar bass drivers and soft-dome tweeters. Every frequency is delivered with precision, creating a balanced soundstage where vocals, instruments, and basslines shine in perfect harmony. From intricate acoustic details to dynamic crescendos, Denton 85 ensures your favourite music flows effortlessly, no matter the genre.
A HOME OF TRUTH
Built using an advanced sandwich construction of High Density Chipboard reinforced with MDF skins, Denton cabinets scatter panel resonances more effectively than using MDF alone. These resonances exaggerate or mute specific frequencies, producing an obscure muddiness in your music known as colouration. By scattering panel resonances, the only components that can reveal your music’s truth shine through, Denton’s woven kevlar mid-bass driver and dome tweeter.
CRAFTED FOR CLASSIC TASTES
The Denton 85th Anniversary celebrates an iconic design that has defined Wharfedale for generations. Hand-veneered in true-timber veneers and adorned with traditional tungsten cloth grilles, Denton 85 is a direct tribute to the artistry and craftsmanship of a bygone era. Available in stunning Black Oak, Walnut and Mahogany finishes, and crafted for music lovers with timeless taste, there’s no question that your friends will marvel.
POETRY IN MOTION
Woven kevlar cones mounted to rigid die-cast chassis ensure precise movement with minimal flex, rapid response to dynamic changes, and the structural integrity to support consistent performance over long hours of play. With Denton 85, every session becomes an epic journey across notes and scales, so that a whispering vocal delivery holds within it the power to give you goosebumps, right before the track buries you under a towering crescendo of resonant cellos, double bass and cymbal strikes.

RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Modern slim speakers suffer from an audible thinning in the upper midrange known as baffle step. This strips vocals and stringed instruments of their warmth and body, resulting in thin, nasal reproductions. Not Denton 85. Its classic wide baffle design intuitively counters these issues to preserve the full and natural tone of these all-important frequencies. Because, like so many things in life, sometimes the old ways are the best ways.
DESIGN THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES
Denton 85’s slimmer chassis profile is the clever combination of beveled cabinet edges and an inset grille. Asymmetrical cutouts within Denton’s speaker grilles mitigate interference caused by cabinet-edge reflections that create frequency irregularities, time smearing, and distortion – all issues associated with traditional big box loudspeakers. So, not only do Denton’s inset jersey knit speaker grilles maintain a low visual profile, giving it a subtle contemporary touch, they also improve your listening experience.
SENSITIVE TO YOUR NEEDS
Some speakers demand mountains of power to come alive, pushing you into costly upgrades. Not Denton 85. With 88dB sensitivity and a recommended power range of 20-120W, Denton 85 performs effortlessly, even when paired with more modest amplification. Engineered with woven Kevlar drivers and high-flux magnets to its increase low-power performance, Denton 85 brings out the best in your setup, letting you enjoy detailed and dynamic sound without breaking a sweat — or the bank.
REIMAGINED NOT REPEATED
Woven Kevlar replaces traditional cone materials for precise bass and midrange performance, while computer-optimized crossovers ensure seamless transitions across frequencies. Its soft-dome tweeter with high-flux ferrite magnet for smooth, extended highs combines with reflex-loaded twin rear ports to deliver dynamic, room-filling sound. So while Denton 85 might look the part of a 60s big-box loudspeaker, its killer vintage look conceals within a modern beast – one that’s well adept to contemporary music demands.
